The Győr section of EuroVelo6 passes through the historic downtown. Let’s meet at Dunakapu Square, and while cycling or walking from there, let's not only concentrate on the road (and on each other) but also on the sights! For example, next to the Jedlik fountain and the statue of the ark of the covenant, you can see the name-plate of the Golden Ship, and you can spend some time in Széchenyi Square. The many sights will surely give you a good topic for conversation.

One of Europe's largest deep steep-sided chines called the Szurdik can be found in the village of Nyúl. The valley is 8-10 meters wide and is enclosed by walls 15-20 meters high, a narrow path leads through it. The loess wall next to it, especially on Vaskapu Road, is lined with cellars characteristically cut into the rock, some of them are 6-10 meter long, 2 meter wide structures constructed 100-200 hundred years ago. These cellar entrances made of stone and lined with bricks are very quaint and charming structures. At Szél and Sons Inn and Cellar you will have the opportunity to taste some quality wines (just remember to pace yourself, you are riding a bike after all.)

The monks of old took special care in growing and collecting healing herbs. In 1830 there were already 80 different kinds of trees and shrubs in the Abbey Arboretum. Fábián Szeder was responsible for implementing the English Garden style of the Abbey grounds in the 1840s. The botanical gardens house several hundreds of species of trees and shrubs, the majority of these are special as they are rarely found in the country. Apart from the protected botanical values, there are a wide variety of songbirds living in the arboretum as well. The arboretum’s pleasant atmosphere makes it a peaceful place for relaxation.
